Where we began

In 1985, a group of financial advisors banded together around the principle that freedom to choose is vital for Canadian consumers. This founding belief remains at the core of everything Independent Financial Brokers does today. We seek to foster co-operative relationships with the public, governments, and other organizations associated with the delivery of financial advice and products.

Who we are
IFB is a federally-incorporated, not-for-profit trade association that represents licensed financial brokers from across Canada. We are a unified group of financial services professionals who adhere to a Code of Ethics and Statement of Principles that put consumers first. Our members do not work exclusively for one firm, and can sell the products and services of two or more companies.

What we do

IFB speaks on behalf of independent brokers on issues affecting how they conduct business and serve their clients. We maintain an active dialogue with government authorities and industry regulators. We provide our members with regulatory support, continuing education opportunities, workshops, and products and services that allow them to run compliant and productive practices.

We host education events and summits for financial advisors, IFB members and non-members alike. It's where you can earn continuing education credits, stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the financial industry, hear from leaders in the field, and meet other advisors like you. Come out to the IFB Education Event or Summit nearest you. IFB members enjoy reduced rates!
